North Downs Way - Southern Training
Thought I best give some account of my efforts down here in the smog in case the other lads think I'm just nancying around and am counting walking down the Kings Road as training.

To say there's a dearth of real hills down here would be an understatement, but with the help and company of a few southern mates I have embarked upon the 153 mile North Downs Way. The Downs are what passes for an awe-inspiring view down here. Truth be told "rolling countryside" would be being polite. But then, expecting it to be as beautiful as Yorkshire is to be unfair. Not everywhere can be God's own country. Fortunately for those joining me, they've no idea what delights that entails and so cannot feel the disappointment. Ignorance certainly their bliss.
The trail starts in the small town of Farnham and quickly descends upon Guildford (which is actually very pleasant, pains me as it does to admit to that). Just after Guildford there's a bit of a climb that Thora Hird could've managed on a bad day, but it ends up at a nice enough church with a view over said rolling countryside. No rivers, lakes or tarns, but it'll do.
To give them their dues, they've developed a smidging of a sense of humour to make up for the lack of scenery. We weren't aware dogs were that fussy, but those in Surrey turned out to be quite the promiscuous little bitches, much to my friend's displeasure as he was followed and dry-humped for 3miles by a particularly frisky pitbull. Alas, if only it applied to their womenfolk. Notoriously pious.
Not much else to report on. Training resumes next weekend.
