Yorkshire Post

The team is on page 2 of today's Yorkshire Post - who would have thought!!!

I've finally realised my dream of being a glamour model in a photo shoot. Although, I'm sure after tomorrow's training walk I won't be smiling quite as much.

Thanks to the Yorkshire Post for including an article for us. For anyone interested in supporting our cause and helping to raise funds for Oxfam, please visit our JustGiving website:

Snow more!

Well, we did the walk yesterday and it was gruelling!! I'm sure pro walkers wouldn't have found it so bad but you have to remember we're pretty casual compared to some.

We arrived in Malham just before midday, dropped off by our support crew of Katie and Nats (Martin and Ant's better halves). It looked like a lovely day for a walk but little did we know what awaited us, even though it was staring down from the picturesque peaks.

The three of us; Ant, Martin and myself found the first part of the walk pretty easy, Malham Cove got the thighs burning and then winding around the tarn was simple enough but then we hit the slope that stood between us and Pen-y-ghent.

We could see snow on the peaks but didn't really think much of it, never again will we see it in such a naive way. Climbing the 3-miles up that slope in snow that often came over our knees was one of the hardest tasks we'd ever taken on!

First of many

WRITTEN: 08:24 25/01/2009

Sunday is officially our training day, just because it's the only day everyone can really get together. Admitantly, Ant and Martin have done a few training walks already, minus myself, generally due to wanting to stay in bed. But this week (and from now on) the full team (minus Chris, who lives in London) training begins!

The flask of tea, tuna sandwiches, packet of crisps and camera are ready! Today we'll be tackling Malham to Horton-in-ribblesdale (via Pen-y-ghent) which is a 15-mile walk up and down dale, as us Yorkshire folk say.

It's clearly been a while since I last did some walking because I can't find my other walking sock, I know, what an amateur!
